About
Plain answers about slabs
Certified coin grading is a small field with a large vocabulary. Most of what is written about it assumes you already know the vocabulary. This site does not.
gradedcoins.co exists to answer one question well: what does this label actually tell me, and what is it not telling me? That covers the Sheldon scale, the differences between grading services, qualifiers and details grades, certification lookup, and the handful of checks worth running before money changes hands.
What this site is not
We do not buy, sell, consign, broker, or appraise coins. We hold no inventory and have no position in any listing referenced here. We are not affiliated with any grading service, auction house, or dealer.
Nothing published here is an appraisal or a valuation. A grade describes condition and authenticity as judged by a third party. It is not a price, and no grading service represents it as one.
How the site is funded
Through the eBay Partner Network. When a link here leads to a purchase on eBay, we may receive a commission. You pay nothing extra, and the price you see is the price you would see arriving any other way.
The practical consequence worth stating plainly: we are paid on marketplace activity, not on any particular outcome, and we have no relationship with individual sellers. Where the honest advice is to walk away from a listing, that is the advice you will find here.
On accuracy
Grading standards, service policies, submission costs, and market premiums all change. Where a number would go stale we point you to the source rather than printing a figure that will be wrong in six months. Certification data should always be verified directly with the issuing service.
If you find something here that is wrong or out of date, tell us. Corrections are welcome and get made.
